Fifteen on the rota, the city between them

Fifteen women hold the rota, based from the Jordaan out to the Zuidas, so someone is always about twenty minutes from your door. Pick a face and name her, or tell the desk your building and take its advice.

The gallery gives you a face, an age, a district and a language or two, enough to start, not enough to finish. What no card conveys is temperament at three in the morning: who is serene in a silent corridor, who can share a lift with a returning delegate and leave no impression at all. That is the quality this rota is actually selected for, and it is tested before anyone joins it.

Where the fifteen stand tonight

The spread is deliberate. Vanessa, Karolina and Nancy hold the south, minutes from the Zuidas towers. Tiffany, Violetta and Bianka cover the canal ring from inside it. Sonya sits near the museums and Thea by the park; Rosa is in De Pijp, Samanta over in the Jordaan. Roxi watches Rembrandtplein, Tina the Dam, and Stacy, Jasmin and Michelle share the streets around Leidseplein. Wherever a booking lands, somebody is close, which is how twenty minutes stays an honest promise after midnight.

Choosing, or being advised

Name a woman and the desk returns a straight yes or a straight no with a time attached, never a silent substitution. Or describe the shape of the thing, the building, the hour, the form, whether there are two of you, and let the desk answer from what a photograph cannot hold: who works the pair bookings together, who is strongest in the slow forms, who puts a first-timer at ease. All fifteen were met in person before their first booking, every image on these pages is the house's own work, and no one you see here is under twenty-one.
